Yeah the mechanism was designed to go vertical to the plane of the bumper, in the video we just had manual control so it rotated a little farther. The guys tried cutting the panel shorter where it was mechanically impossible to break the plane and it works well too. No difference in performance.

We basically wanted to create a robot that was easy enough for anyone to build without any cnc machines or mill/lathe abilities and that would be a perfect third pick for any alliance at the championship level. We should probably change the name to
MCC+ or something
We shared the view that the robot must:
1. Have a shifting transmission to play defense and zip around the field. Can use ball shifter, dog shifter etc... Single speed could work as well. There are a ton of cots option, just pick one and go!
2. Have a feeder load gear mechanism. We thought the floor mechanism was too difficult to pull off and added complexity. The current mechanism is manually driven with no feedback and is very very easy to build. It probably works better than our team's current ground loader!
3. Ability to hopper load and dump balls into low goal, this is probably lowest on our priority list but figured it would be fun to see how it worked out. Also teams could contribute by dumping balls in auto.
4. Ability to hang will be a must, especially as a 3rd pick at the championship level.. We wanted to see if there was a simple way of doing this and if it was possible to do it in a single pull/linear slide. Also who doesn't love elevators! Really wanted one since our 2017 robot won't have one......
Good Luck to all teams this season!
