Hey all,

I've gone to try and reserve rooms 4 times - about 15 minutes after registration opened and then about once a week since then. I've been looking for a hotel within walking distance, but everything is already sold out. (Lots of single beds are available, but that makes everything 2x as expensive.)

Does anyone know if this might be because so many teams have already preregistered or if the inventory simply isn't posted yet from the hotels?

While I appreciate the fact that the inventory updates dynamically, now it becomes a guessing game as to when a team might drop their reservations because they don't qualify for Worlds. Meanwhile, I've reserved a less than optimal hotel simply because I want to make sure I have something. This further bogs down the system.

Most, if not all the teams, including mine, have probably signed up and booked the rooms in advance for a "just in case" setup. If you don't pre-book earily enough, you will be driving/transporting back and forth to the event.

Rooms will start to open up as teams find out if they have made it or not. As for it being a guessing game of when the team drop and spaces are open, ya, probably. I always see open room threads and request start to pop up as it gets closer to the event.

One of your big challenges to finding hotels in walking distance, is that FIRST specifically holds the closest hotels for Volunteers. Especially since most of them spend 8 or more hours on their feet. They want to give them the closest places to stay. Those rooms are held for them until after all assignments are made. Then rooms will begin to open up at nearby hotels for teams. The Drury across the street from the Dome/Convention Center is specifically held for FIRST Staff and FTA's.
