Unhappy Cimcoders and Talons

We are having trouble figuring out how to connect cimcoder cables to the Talon SRX data port. Any ideas (besides using a breakout board)?
Thanks!

Maybe some more detail could help, but have you checked out the SRX User Manual and page 17?

If we're talking the physical connection between the CIMcoder output and the Talon SRX, you're looking at either very carefully slicing up an SRX data cable to connect to the pins...or using a breakout board. The official CTRE encoder breakout board is going to provide a much easier target for a soldering iron to hit, though there's also MACH Engineering's universal breakout board that provides 0.1" pitch pins. If you can crimp connectors on the wires, that may be beneficial.

(Full disclosure of the probably obvious: I work at AndyMark, which sells both those boards, the CIMcoder, and the Talon SRX.)

Re: Cimcoders and Talons

Note that pull-up resistors are required. See the CIMCoder data sheet. Our team just recently built a wire using the included CIMCoder wire, a TalonSRX breakout board and the resistors.

I would highly recommend the breakout board for the TalonSRX. They help quite a bit and make it easy to attach a variety of sensors to the Talon.
