Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

I will get the cameras to turn their blue lights on when plugged into the RoboRIO, the dashboard will show the camera is there but will not show any video. I am programming in LabVIEW and have my RoboRIO on the newest image and firmware update! I am completely lost please help!

Thanks a ton!

Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

Try this sequence:
  1. Plug in camera, power up roboRIO & radio
  2. On the PC start the Driver Station
  3. Wait for Communications and Robot Code to go green
  4. Wait for camera 0 to appear as a camera selection (it will take a minute)
  5. After selecting camera 0, if the image remains blank, try hitting the Reset button on the roboRIO (or use the Driver Station Diagnostics tab to choose Restart Robot Code)
  6. Wait for everything to come back
  7. Wait a couple of minutes more for an image to appear.

Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

See I am currently having other issues. I have the camera plugged in and the blue light is on, however I don't have the drop down menu that gives me camera options. All it says is no camera selected, but there is no option to change it. That is all it says or shows. I have no image at all and no camera option to select............

What language?
Do you have a user program running on the roboRIO?
Tell us a little bit about the program.

Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

In order for dashboards to display images from the camera, you do need a camera server running on the roboRIO. This can be done in many ways, but it is built into the default robot project code. It is the Send 2 PC icon.

You also need to have the driver station running so that the dashboard knows which robot it should connect to.

So ensure that you have robot code, a DS connected to the robot, and a dashboard.

If that doesn't work, I'd look at the robot code to ensure that the vision code is still there and that it is still registering the camera with a name of some sort. The "Camera 1" or other names that show up in the dashboard list use the registered name. So you can use better names, and you must name it in order to show up in the list.

Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

We are using Labview and have simply modified the sample program to get us running. Last year, our rookie year, I know that when we plugged the camera in it just started working. This year we have nothing. I don't think that we would have changed anything in the default code that would not send it to the dashboard, but maybe we did. Where would I find the Send to PC block?

Thanks Guys

Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB Camera not working on dashboard

This may be dumb, but have you tried clicking the enable vision button on the front panel of robot main? We were just setting up our camera the other day and we tried a bunch of different things, but then we realized that button hadn't been pressed. Once that is pressed, you should be able to choose 'camera' on the dashboard of the drive station.
