You are using a shifting transmission for... the winch? Cool.

As a public service announcement - make sure you fit in the size restraints with your bumpers installed.

Re: pic: 2017 Robot

Gear holder looks cool. You would most definitely want support the end of the climbing gearbox shaft. Other than increasing robustness it may help prevent the rope from tracking off the shaft.

Can we get some insight into why you found it necessary to use a shifter for your climber. Does it double as something else on your robot? I can't really imagine what else it would be used for in that position. Also why use a 3-CIM shifter with only 2 CIMs installed when you can use a smaller, lighter 2-CIM shifter?

Also what gearbox and reductions are you using for the mecanums?

Nice clean cuts and bends on the polycarb gearage. Looks good so far!

How do you know that they are using it for the climber? And if they are - maybe that is what they have in house right now. Good questions to ask thought!

I just pray that they have a driver experienced with Mecanum!

For sure. And programmers to keep strafing straight using encoders/gyro. Otherwise, you're not gonna have a great time.

I'd imagine its what they had in stock that they could use, maybe not necessarily what was the best option.
