We can't thank you enough for your quick and comprehensive response to our plea for information. Using your code as an initial test we were able to validate our setup and now have the pixy communicating successfully.

which provides moreinformation about the operational functionality of the I2C class was critical to our understanding why it appeared that nothing we had tried would work. After our first test, we had tried to keep our tests simple... which meant that we had been relying mostly on the functions that you note do not work at all.
