Re: pic: Is it a climber or is it an intake?
"Steel climbing shaft" has me confused. You're not climbing a steel cable, right?
Edit: duh. No you aren't. I get it. Looks great folks! |

Re: pic: Is it a climber or is it an intake?
By the looks of the picture I am guessing both a climber and an intake by the polycord wound around the rollers. By the way where did you find that color?

Looks great. I'm really impressed with how your team has re-defined itself since ~2010. Good luck this year.

Among other places, McMaster has the solid smooth stuff in clear and orange.

Re: pic: Is it a climber or is it an intake?
Very clever, may I ask you what kind of rope is this? Or the source of. Looks a paracord, but I cant figure the diameter or more details...
Thank you. Looking forward to see your team in HVR! |

Like the little colson pulleys! How did you cut the grooves?

Looks great. Love the space saving design / creativity.
Might I inquire as to how you plan to insure the touchpad gets depressed / how you plan to deal with the steel channel in the center of the touchpad? |

Re: pic: Is it a climber or is it an intake?
The fingers and the polycarb plates would be sufficient to hit the touchpad unless they are completely parallel with the touchpad at the time the climber hits the davit. While unlikely, it could be an issue. And the shaft itself is recessed within the intake, so when the shaft is touching the davit, the polycord itself would be touching the touchpad, possibly putting enough pressure to trigger the sensor. Whether or not that in itself would provide the sufficient amount of force depends on the tension of the polycord.

Quote:
Our initial testing using a CAD calculated COM shows the top of the intake hitting the touchpad, we will certainly be testing that soon. |

Re: pic: Is it a climber or is it an intake?
Looks great! Love the colors! Our current design triple-hats a single motor to power raise/lower of the arm, climb, AND do stage 1 and 2 floor intake, though it's a gear intake, not a fuel intake. We have a vague idea that the fuel excluder will also push the touchpad, but that's a week or two down the road.
