Re: Confusion On Bringing Our Own Rope
Man, if FIRST only provided a large book of rules where we can check for those details
OK, enough sarcasm. The rope rules are in I-04 ![]() |

Re: Confusion On Bringing Our Own Rope
Look at the manual, look at all the team updates, look at the FRC Q&A, and browse the numerous threads on chief delphi. Your questions have been answered several times over.

Re: Confusion On Bringing Our Own Rope
Even if you see what other teams are using, read the rules and make sure it meets all the rules. Inspectors rely on rules only.
EDIT: GDC is probably seriously thinking of banning ropes from future FIRST competitions or not give option for teams to bring their own rope for field element. There are more Q&A about rope than any other role/specs. Last edited by Tungrus : 04-02-2017 at 15:13. |

Re: Confusion On Bringing Our Own Rope
Trying to cut through the crud, because your poorly researched and asked question has quite honestly brought out close to the worst CD has to offer: The rope rules have been among the most demanding subject for the GDC/answer team this year. Go get the LATEST version of the rules, and search the Q&A for ROPE rules. These have changed, or at least shifted, twice a week, except for TU#6. There are very specific requirements for length, width, loops, knots, the RETAINING FEATURE, and the mechanism by which the rope is held together by all those small strands, which have evolved over build season. Metal and non-fibrous materials are very definitely out. After you've worked through all these issues, feel free to ask questions about what you still don't quite understand.
Edit: In response to the previous post -- YES, we are planning to bring our own, and NO, we are not planning to have any velcro on our rope. We have found a solution that works on unmodified COTS rope and strap, which is readily available and should be familiar to FRC teams. Last edited by GeeTwo : 04-02-2017 at 21:25. |
