Well, we have to realize that it's hard on the players and especially the goalies... Bulfour is getting old... It's hard for double over time with the game next day... But that shouldn't be an excuse...

Great Series

This was one of the best (and longest) playoff series I have ever seen. Someone had to win (eventually) and I am glad it was the Flyers in a definitive victory. I would not blame Belfour, he had no defesive support. He may be old but he is one of my favorite goalies of all time, and he is usally great in Game 7. The Flyers are looking to take down another Canadian Team, The Senator. I should be sweet revenge for embarassment last year. Back To the original topic of the thread, Time to retire that Leafs flag.
GO FLYERS!!!!

PS: Avs-Wild game is close, 1-1 right now. Great Game!

Oh this is a horrible day in professional sports. Overtime loss for the Avalanche.

Time to root for my "Neutral" team...the Dallas Stars:

Avs were my team, and they lost , now watch the Ducks, and hope the goalie keeps stopping the puck, also go back to baseball where the mets lost, and Jeromy Burnitz broke his hand, so this is one of the most depressing days of my life

Let's see...with some Photoshopping, I could have Mr. Defense Minister claiming that Colorado is still in the playoffs...

I watched Game 7 in the Philly-Toronto series. Ouch. It's like Detroit's loss - I really can't defend Toronto. Belfour didn't play very well, but it's always impossible to win without scoring. Or defense. It's too bad that Toronto is out of the playoffs now. Random question: when was the last season when no Original Six teams made it to the conference semifinals?

Minnesota won, though, and that's the entire reason why I'm happy today. Having Colorado lose did make Detroit's loss much more bearable. Wouldn't a Minnesota-Anaheim conference final be great?

Let's keep this thread going until the playoffs are done. Next year, it looks like we'll need an NHL thread for the whole season.

[b]Well, after looking at some stats, I'm going to call the games...

Avs vs. Wild - They (Avs) are going to fall tonight. Not just because I'm a Detroit fan, but they can't get over the Wild. People may think that the Avs would have the experience needed for the game 7, but they are a little older with their team, and they are tired. The Wild have everything going for them. They are young, their guys are "clicking" at the right spot, and have the adrenaline advantage of beating the Colorado Avalanche. The home ice advantage won't help the Avs here. The Wild came back from a 3-1 deficit. I'll put my snow on the Wild!

Tor vs. Phi - Phi has the man power, but Tor has the goalie. This one is very-very close. They both are tired. Nether of them have the adrenaline advantage. Phi has not gone out of the quarter-finals in a few years, and it's at Phi's own home. I think that will be the deciding factor. I'm putting my U.S. currency on Phi.

St.L vs. Can - St. Louis has played with fire, and just got burned. They slacked off their 5th game, and allowed Van to come back. It serves St. Louis right. The thought they could take the Canes lightly, but remember last year? Wings and the Canucks? Thanks to the Canucks pulling it out, they got their ball rolling while stopping St. Louis' ball from rolling. I'll put my blue-box-blues on the Canucks.

(P.S. This is just what I think. I don't mean to offend anyone. I dare you all to find humor in this!)

This is a repost of what i wrote!! Muhahahaha - I am the hockey god!!

Hey Hockey "God"-

Is it me or did the Canes not make it to the playoffs this year

Yeah, you got lucky this time...

My Predictions

West is best, so they come first:

The Stars are going to beat the Ducks in 5

Canucks are going to beat the Wild in 6

In the East:

Flyers are going to be pummeled by Ottawa in 4

and the Lightning are going to beat Jersey in 7

----------

The wings and the avs were beaten in round one...thats pathetic.

Well I can understand the wings having that done to them because 2 out of the last 3 years they were beaten in the first round

Not funny, DJ...

At least the Avs lost, too... I would've hated for your head to get too big over this...

Let's see...I believe that it's now five games in a row where the Avs could have eliminated their opponent but were unable to (games 6 and 7 against the Wings last year, and 5-7 against the Wild this year).

While Detroit lost, at least we lost against Paul Kariya and Adam Oates. At least we didn't lose against Cliff Ronning and Andrew Brunette...

You seem like a good guy, D.J...except for your taste in hockey teams.

My predictions? They're going to be wrong, but I'll take a stab at it anyway:

Ottawa in five
Tampa Bay in seven
Anaheim in seven
Minnesota in six

No chance of any of that actually happening, but at least I've tried.

Minnesota or Anaheim winning the Cup would be awesome...

actually, you can thank Manny Fernandez for most of it....once he got over his first loss he played very well. Pascal Dupuis and Marion Gaborik are excellent players. Brunette has had a tough career in the NHL, considering that he has been with 3 of the 4 newest NHL teams in the last few years. (Atlanta, Nashville, now Minnesota). I think he finally found his niche. The avs got beat by a quality team, who had a little bump in the road in the middle of the season.

Hrm, I think it was Ken Patton from 65 who first told me that
-------------------------------------

D.J.'s bad Pun:

It looks like the Red Wings got the "boot" from the playoffs

Heh yeah I know the avs buried themselves...thats their own stupidity

As a Maple Leaf fan I would like to congratulate the Flyers for their win. It was a great series( till the last game) with probably the best hockey you will see this year. I hate to say this but the Flyers proved to be the best team this time around. Toronto fans, we have next year and the cup is ours.

I saw the last Leaf cup win and I know I will see the next one.
