Bumper

Parts of the robot can stand up to the outer perimeter or just the inside of the bumper?

Thanks All

Everything must START inside of the bumpers. But after the match starts your robot may expand to occupy the full volume you have chosen.

Re: Bumper

When starting, everything must be inside the bumpers and max height.

Quote:
R02. In the STARTING CONFIGURATION (the physical configuration in which a ROBOT starts a MATCH), no part of the ROBOT shall extend outside the vertical projection of the FRAME PERIMETER, with the exception of its BUMPERS and minor protrusions such as bolt heads, fastener ends, rivets, etc.
Once the match has started, everything must stay within the volume limitation

Quote:
R03. Maximum ROBOT size, including BUMPERS and all extensions, must be constrained to one of two volumes:
A. 36 in. by 40 in. by 24 in. tall (~91 cm by 101 cm by 60 cm tall).
B. 30 in. by 32 in. by 36 in. tall (~76 cm by 81 cm by 91 cm tall).
The ROBOT must remain constrained to the maximum inspected volume at all times during the MATCH (i.e. A ROBOT may not switch between volume A and volume B without being re-inspected).

Also, search is your best friend. There have been multiple threads on this subject, plus Andy from AndyMark made a contest for videos to explain this exact subject.

Just to be picky about it (the way your LRI will do), everything must be inside the frame perimeter at the start of each match. Since there can be some small gaps behind parts of the bumper, the frame perimeter and not the bumpers should be used as the datum.

Your Robot Inspector will look for your robot's ability to keep all appendages inside the frame perimeter with the bumpers off, if he is doing a good inspection job!
