Question regarding Network Cameras

Due to the commonly used Axis Network Camera(M1013, etc.) being out of production I was wondering if any of the other Axis Network Cameras will work with the FRC dashboard, and if not, what Company or Network Cameras also work with the FRC Dashboard?

Re: Question regarding Network Cameras

If all you want to do is display the video feed on the Driver Station, then any IP Camera should work.

When we first used the Axis Camera years ago, we couldn't get it to work with the FRC software. However, we could open a browser window and directly connect to the camera to get the feed.

I highly recommend giving the camera a fixed IP address of 10.TE.AM.11. That makes it easy for you and the software to find it.

Re: Question regarding Network Cameras

The FRC libraries are written to the VAPIX API, a proprietary HTTP based library from Axis. It provides rich configuration support. Other IP cameras can certainly work, but many of them don't allow for updates to the full set of imaging parameters. And they will have a different commands. If you choose to use another IP camera, you can open a connection using a web browser, and you can describe that URL using Network Tables so that the default and Smart dashboards will work as well. The brightness and other settings will likely not work, however.

All Axis cameras I've tested since the 206 use the same API, though some of the subset it a bit.
