When discussing with another team, it was said that the robots are on the opposite side of arena as in last year's game. Which one is correct?
For the most part, your your robot will be on the side closer to your own drivers. Your airship (which you score gears on and climb the rope) is on your drivers' half of the field. Your boiler is the one next to your driver station. However, the feeder station is on the opposite side of the field in your opponent's launchpad.

Essentially, all scoring will be done close to your driver station. Getting gears/fuel from the feeder station and (probably) most defense will be played on the side far from your driver station.

Note the diagram at the beginning of section 3.1 for a pretty self-explanatory diagram

Re: Robots and drivers on same side?

An interesting result of scoring on the same side where your drivers are standing, is that teams who have elected to use exceedingly bright lights to illuminate the target tape (at least that's what they say those bright lights are for) will be blinding their own alliance members instead of the competition!

Cool!
