Re: 2017 Chairman's On-going Q&A

Greetings from Team 5557!
We appreciate your vlog responses to our concerns!
Question: can the video for the Chairman's Award be submitted after the online submission date? We have alot of multimedia of our efforts this year but the team is afraid they may need more time with this component of the award. Thanks for any advice you can give!!!

You can bring your video on physical media directly to the competition you are presenting at and hand it to the judges at the beginning of your presentation.

When you say the submission form says to include photos in the presentation, you mean the form student submitters use, right?

Thanks!
Yeah, in STIMS, I attached a picture from one of my students.

We did this, and now she has "award submitter" in her little "block" in the roster, but still nothing on her dashboard that allows her to submit awards! Can't figure out how to get the darn thing submitted! HELP?!?!?

Same.

There is no place for the students who have been selected as submitters to actually submit. Very frustrating.

However, they can "donate to FIRST", "Create a Team", or "Create a Season Pass" (which seems to be something for Jr. FLL).

Does anyone know how to get to the submission page? We're singing the "New Web Site Blues".

Re: 2017 Chairman's On-going Q&A

We found it! And, surprise, it's no place you'd ever actually think to look. (Side note: they really need to fix this terrible web site.)

For the students who have been selected as award submitters, they need to:

(1) Log in to their account on "firstinspires.org"
(2) Click on "My Dashboard"
(3) Click on "Complete Youth Member Registration"
(4) Click on "Youth Member Registration Button"
(5) Click on the green flashing "Awards" at the top of the old registration interface.

Hope that helps someone.

It is very hard to find. My students found it for our WFA and Entrepreneurship submissions. The button is up at the top towards the middle and says "Awards"

My student submitters are also not seeing the "Awards Tab" in their profiles. What's the trick to getting this to show up?

My students were also having a hard time with this. Thankfully, we got it figured out today!

They should log in through this site: (https://my.firstinspires.org/stims/Login.aspx). It will take them to a page that looks more like the traditional STIMS portals. At the top there is a very small tab that says "Awards" and they can submit through there.

Re: 2017 Chairman's On-going Q&A

Will it affect judging at all if we don't submit the video until we are at competition? I know there are other things that are "optional" like some of the executive summaries where you can choose not to submit them but you might not be judged as well. We have our video pretty much done so we could submit tomorrow morning, but if it doesn't affect anything, we would probably be able to make it better before competition.

No, it will not. The judges don't actually look at the video when determining the winner, it's only looked at afterwards to ensure it meets all the requirements and rules.

Re: 2017 Chairman's On-going Q&A

We got a e-mail from FIRST after Chairman's was submitted. Should we get a similar communication after WFA is Submitted?

TIA

Re: 2017 Chairman's On-going Q&A

My team is new to Chairman's and we're curious about presentation format. I'm curious whether we should use a powerpoint presentation on a projector or a poster-board. I'm not entirely sure whether to trust the technology (because it always fails when I rely on it) or if the poster-board will look unprofessional. What do you suggest?
