Last year we were given coupons that we could use for breakfast and coupons that we could use for lunch (they didn't have dates on them either--if you wanted two lunches one day, you could have done it). There was a big concession booth that you would line up at (it got pretty crowded around lunch time). You had a lot of choice, hot dog, hamburger, sandwhich, etc. etc. then you could also get a cookie or a bag of chips, then a drink. For breakfast you could get eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, then you could get an apple, banana, etc. and then your choice of two drinks. There are other things you could have gotten, but the above is what I can remember offhand. They even had a special line for Kosher food, so they made sure everyone had good food choices. I believe some people even went in Epcot and could use their tickets at certain restaraunts in the park.

[EDIT]
Oh yeah--you could use your breakfast coupon either at Disney, or if you woke up early enough, at the hotel. If you used it at the hotel, you got the standard Disney hotel breakfast. And let me tell you, the standard Disney hotel breakfast (at least where we stayed) is very, very good.
[/EDIT]

Hey Kit, i know what you mean, if my memory serves me right you were on the Archimedies field and i volunteered with you and we joked about on Friday how strange the volunteers catering was, on friday for all you who want to know for lunch we had cajun corn/vegitable meledy, basil marinated chicken with a basil sauce, spiced rice, asian noodles, chocolate moose cake, cans of soda and bottles of water, plus some other stuff i cant remember now... Now i know why i volunteered, it was for real food and more fun.
~Mike

P.S.~ Yes i did eat on Thursday the crap they tried to call chicken for lunch and i got sick that night, i wasnt sure friday morning if i was going to beable to walk for that day.

Our team (213) stayed at the Houston Hilton Plaza. It was a beautiful hotel, (our kids all had suites with 2 bathrooms, living rooms and bedroom w/ 2 beds). However the food there was HORRIBLE!! Day 1 consisted of runny scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. Day 2 was pancakes and sausage (over cooked!) and day 3 was cereal and and apple or banana. Don't even get me started on the prepaid food. My one question is this: Would Woody and Dean eat the same food we were subjected to in Houston? Answer NO, they had VIP catered meals (of which we all paid for) I think next year, Dean and Woody should be required to eat the same food we have to eat, then maybe we'll get something decent to eat!
My only hope is that they have learned what was wrong this year and can fix it for next year. If you take out the food situation, and the distance from the pits to the playing field, then it was really not a bad place to hold the competition.

Man you guys are complaining about the food in your hotel, well I stayed at the westin galleria and let me tell you... not only was the breakfast autrocious but it was the [b]SAME $@#$@#$@#$@# THING[b] every day. Runny powdered eggs, salty home fries, under ripe fruit and tea, coffee and OJ! No soda machines on any floor and the mall (no scratch that the city of housten) shuts down at 8:30.

My $.02

Hehe. I never had any problem getting food - I'm a light eater anyway and we went out relatively early for team dinners - but the rest of my team found this little dollar grocery store a few blocks from the Hyatt that was open up until midnight or so and loaded up on snacks and drinks.

The downside was that if you stood outside the place you got asked for cigarretes or marijuana, but the prices were astounding.

i haven't read through this all, so i don't know if someone already said this, but they did have options for non-meat meals....although you had to ask the right person. one woman was a real you-know-what when i asked about it, so i asked the guy in the khaki shirt that was walking around the food area with the walkie talkie....he was real nice about it...veggie spring rolls or a fruit bowl, plus an extra bag of chips. and that was actually pretty good.

food

Yeah, my food experience also was terrible.
I loved Epcot. The free meals were decent and they gave you sooo much free food and never once did I have to worry about throwing it all up.
Well... first off, I hated the wrist band things. I didn't even use it, not to mention mine broke and I used a hair elastic to hold it on...
You've all heard about the Radisson meals by now. Everything came out of a box and it was disgusting. Friday I tried to get a chicken sandwich and I confused it with the fish. It was rubbery and soggy so I threw it away.
Saturday they had those hotdog thingies. If you covered it with a lot of ketchup it was edible. But then they served it again at the team party... I have a bad stomach with hotdogs as it is. I only took two bites of my hotdog cuz somehow, I was no longer hungry after what I saw foodwise. (surprising since I didn't eat anything anyway!) Yeah, well I ended up throwing all of it up in a toilet at the park!!!!!
If they for some ungodly reason choose to hold the event there next year, let's see if they can't get edible if not nutritious food. I miss Disney
Jessica

are you serious???
you mean i didn't eat for 3 days for no reason??
it made me really upset that they didn't have veggie food as an option,
but b/c of religious reasons i couldn't eat meat on Thurs.
and i wasn't supposed to on Fri. but i had to have the sandwich,
and then sat. it was an all beef hot dog -- once again, against my religion -- that's on thing I fallow strictly -- no beef,
so I had to live off of water the whole time!
I'm very upset w/ FIRST on this

In retrospect, I should had gone to the Fiesta and picked up some PB&J. Someone remind me of that next year.

Hmm alturnatives

Well there were many resteruants in the surrounding area, so anyone could have had atleast dinner. I know we went to Olive Garden, and i think denny's. Anyway, no one really should have starved. All in all food around the two stadiums was good. I will vouch for that.

Well the Fiesta might of had pb&j but if you wanted a two liter of Dew you would have had to go somewhere else. Since R.A.G.E. got there two days early we went and cleaned the store of two liter bottles of Dew they only had about fifty bottles there.

My hotel room of 3 people had 48 cans of soda. I drank enough cherry coke and Pipp to glow in the dark.
