Go to Post I don't really care that the best on Curie may or may not be better than Newton, since we're going to spend the rest of the offseason discussing it no matter how the decision fell. - Jessica Boucher [more]

NYC FIRST- Sad Announcement

From the Directors of NYC FIRST David Packard Center for Technology & Educational Alliances (Randy & Ana)
"To all NYC FIRST participants and volunteers --

It is with deepest sadness that New York City FIRST! announces the passing of our dear friend, Professor Nick Russo, the eve of April 28, 2003. This is a very sad loss for the Polytechnic community and particularly for us at FIRST and the David Packard Center.

Nick was the bundle of energy and "can do" attitude at the heart of every FIRST LEGO League Tournament and FIRST Robotics Competition in New York City. There was nothing that characterized Nick more than his mantra "Working together we can make it happen" Nick had vision and energy. He mentored robotics teams, was FLL Volunteer of the year at our 2001 tournament, inspired the creation of the Polybots, believed in the empowerment of students, and believed in Polytechnic University. For Nick, there were no problems or obstacles, only challenges to be confronted using ingenuity and determination. The hours he gave to NYC FIRST and Polytechnic were countless. Frenetic in energy "to do" on the one hand, calm and serene in the face of challenge on the other.

We all miss him."
