Still trying to rally up support from my team, but I think you can probably expect the FEDS to make an appearance...

Expect to see #93 there this year! As soon as I get two of our engineers to agree to go, we should be golden. And we've got to get some DDR going there. Chell and I will figure out a way to get our PS2s and pads down there!

Team 48 will be there...if we are fortunate enough to successfully register on Monday. IRI demand seems to greatly outweigh IRI supply. Any of you Indianans (Indianites? Indianers?) ever thought about putting up the 40 spots for auction on Ebay? :-P

Are you ready for 25?
We talked about it today and the guys want to do it. If the invitation is still open, and the robot Gods prevail, team 25 looks forward to a major rematch with team 111 at IRI. The deal is that the seniors work at our car wash on the 24th, their proceeds raise the $300 registration for the event and their parents give written approval for the plan. So the ball is in their court. ; )
The senior drive team, Big Mike and myself are looking into making the expedition out. This will be their last chance to drive FIRST robots before going off to college so the action should be fast and furious. And a road trip with the guys.... well .... So-is team 25, a non Hoosier group from Joisey, invited to the invitational? WC |

A team social at Indiana Beach??
For all you who don't know, Indiana Beach is Indiana's one and only theme park. Its best roller coaster has about a 90 foot drop, i'm not sure. Since I like rap music, how about a freestyle or written rap battle, with breakdancing on the HDPE. Like this... [X] No image available Sorry I didn't upload my masterpiece image of a guy breakdancing on the HDPE. There will be 4 divisions. The first will be the freestyle division. For those of you who don't know what freestyle is, it's where you and another person do a "battle of words". The words have to be in some sort of rhyme, and to a rhythm which will be played on the speaker system. Your goal is to prove that you are better (in a rap sort of way) than your opponent. Cuss words are used, but A LOT MORE POINTS will be given to those who come up with creative, personal, hard-hitting, below the belt insults. There is no prep time and it will be done impromptu. The second division is written freestyle. In this, you have 30 minutes to write a rap song, which is also competed. The winning song(s) get some dj and background music addition and are played the next day. The third division is subject rap. You will be given a subject and 50 minutes to write a 3-4 minute recited rap. Judges will judge you on how well you conveyed the message, whether you stay on toopic or stray far from it, humor, ghettoness, how well you can rap, and of course, rhyming and rhythm. Again, the winning rap will be played the next day. The fourth division is breakdancing. Judges will judge the breakdancing moves, and the best breakdancer will get to breakdance on the HDPE at the conclusion of the tournament. I know its long and it won't happen, it's still cool. ![]() Last edited by Brandon Martus : 09-05-2003 at 00:31. |

Unless you like looking at hundreds of disgusting carp feeding on people's random overthrown items, a lot of untamed mullets, and swimming in 'Purified Well Water!' (that's straight from their signs). Maybe I'm just prissy from being raised next to Chicago all of my life, but I'm still gagging from the thought of those nasty fish. aggggggggg, Amanda Last edited by Brandon Martus : 09-05-2003 at 00:32. |

Indiana Beach was my first job ever. I grew up in Monticello and worked there, as did most of my friends. I started as one of those guys who walks around with a broom and "pooper-scooper", cleaning up popcorn, cigarette butts, and much worse stuff (getting paid $2.65 per hour, btw). I ended up working at "the pier" as a lifeguard in the "filtered well water". If you were a hick like me, it was not a bad place to grow up and work... it is pretty much a glorified state fair-type place, with many mullets and tube tops as Amanda mentioned above. There are a couple of rides that are neat... some small roller coasters that are well-designed (Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express) and a really cool "ski lift" ride that takes you over the whole park. But... it is NOTHING compared to ANY Six Flags. Think of Houston's Six Flags, put about 1/4 of their rides into about 1/8 of the space and place it on a dirty, dammed up, over populated river (Lake Shafer). Having said all this... I totally agree with Amanda. I would definitely not suggest a meeting there, unless you would want to go and "people watch" for your entertainment. Besides, Indiana Beach is about 2 hours away from Indianapolis... there are many of things to do in Indy that would be much better. Also... the best theme park in Indiana is Holiday World, in Santa Claus... at the south end of the state. It's about 3 hours from Indy. Andy B. ps... also, by the way... we are realizing that many more than 40 teams are wanting to play... we are working on that issue (no promises, though) Last edited by Andy Baker : 09-05-2003 at 01:03. |

Also it is not the only theme park in Indiana. There is Holiday World (Santa Clause Land) in Santa Clause Indiana. Which IMO is better but farther from here.
