My question is this: does FIRST-A-Holics have to be graduated from collage? Plus, why must they be involved with one other team? Why not be involved with the FIRST program in general? Look at M who dosn't have a team.

If your love of FIRST is greater than your love of robots, I'd consider you a FIRST-a-holic.

Post club for college FIRST-a-holic

They don’t have to be graduated from colleges. However, one of the big thing for FIRST is to inspire high school students to go to college, and finish a engineering or science/technology related degree.

But simply putting it, going through college is a special phrase of growth that is very important to a person's life, and adding FIRST into that phrase, you got a whole 4 years (maybe even more) full of challenges, self-analysis, interesting stories, success, failure, and finally a some what grown up adult after it.

Going to college is a phrase where you become independent, and work hard for a few years so you will be prepare to do something you really want to in your life. A lot of time it is the turning point for a person, because you finally leave the roof of your parents, and go out there figuring out what you want and what's best for you. It is through these kind of times when you truly understand the magnitude of the impact of this competition.

You don't have to dedicated yourself to one team. M isn't doing that anymore. Neither am I, nor a whole bunch of other people across the country. Once you realize your skills and talents can be helpful to lots of people out there, you can do whatever you want to spread yourself to as many team as possible.

Having all that said, I agree with others that having a club for College FIRST-a-holics is a good idea. It will be designed to be a support group for college FIRSTers, and not a status thing. Any college student can join. The most basic thing we can do is set up a network so the college students can contact each other, and share stories or experiences. The things you can do with this are limited by your imagination only, but it is easier to start small and simple.

I agree, perhaps that is what I'm getting at. I would definately like to know who all the college FIRST-a-holics are, and an official 'club' would make getting to know people a lot easier. Right now, I think I can name most of them. But I don't want to leave anyone out and it's always fun to discover new people and personalities.

How can we get started?

Well, just so all y'all know, I didn't mean it to be a status thing. In my own opinion, anybody that deems themselves worthy of being a FIRST -a- holic is rightly so. Anyone can do it. If I came across that way, I deeply apologize.

Hah... this is just more initiative to teach myself how to make websites this summer. What would be the best program to learn?

Perhaps if I become decent enough at putting websites together (no garantees here... computers tend to hate me), I'd be willing to try to make a site.

Even so, I'd probably won't be able to put one out until august... so you might want to try to find somebody else to be webmaster.

I'm good at publicity though!

Maybe i am dating myself here but I remember the first first-a-holics website. Anyone was able to sign up and it was just a place where there was information about first and what not. What is left of it can be found in http://www.geocities.com/rit_tekchic/ . As many people have said it is a state of mind not a rank you try to earn. Chief Delphi has more or less taken over where that site left off. The original address of the site used to be http://www.first-a-holics.com/.

Well, it appears Chief Delphi can have somewhat of a "slashdot" effect... The old First-a-Holics website has "exceeded its allotted data transfer" shortly after being posted in this thread.
