Implementing FSN Into openFIRST.

Hi there.

I am one of the head programmers who is working on openFIRST. If you have not heard of openFIRST then visit http://openfirst.sourceforge.net.

I would like to implement FSN into our source code. We have about 13 modules that are either done or nearly complete, and I thought it would be important if we added a scouting system.

Who would I speak to and how could we get something like this going?

Hey,

I'm Andrew Schenk from Team 201. I think that the project you're working on is awesome. I would definatly think that there could be an intergration between FSN and a openFIRST module.

However, at this time, the network is just beginning to take shape and be planed. Therefore, I really can't tell you too much about the network yet because it just hasen't been created.

However, I can tell you that data will be handeled using XML. Therefore, as long as there was some way for you to handle an XML feed, the two would work together.

If you check back in a month or two, I think there will be a lot more.

Jack

Thats great news. We should have some modules up and ready to go by that time.

I plan to have openFIRST at a quality level by the end of the summer. I want to get beta testers in as soon as I get the bones of the system up.

Anyways see you in a month ;-)

Good luck with the beginning (which is always the hardest). A little tip for the FSD team: keep things simple and dont have too many people doing too many things.

From my own experience when you have a massive development team and tons of ideas you never get anything done. Start very very small. With 2 or 3 developers to build the base, then make it easy for people to build off of it.

Just my two cents ;-) Have fun!

That is Great

The Ubergeeks have greated a php website that might have some code someone could use in the openfirst project and the FSN project. We started a sourceforge project but it really never took off the ground. Please visit our website at http://www.firstubergeeks.com and let me knwo if there is any code you would like to look at or use. Email me at mhillis@madison.k12.al.us

i was just looking at the site, and on the left i found this:

What is FIRST?
FIRST is the largest North American robotics competition that has over 800 teams and 2 competitions yearly.

I know that there are more than 2 competitions yearly.

Thanks

I will go and change that. One of the students who wrote that was ony thinking of the competitions that we were able to participate in. They now have a better understanding of how big FIRST really is after our FIRST year.

It truly is a massive competition. I wouldn't even call it a competition anymore, I would call it...a sport!
