Very true. This was one of the only flaws I had thought about when I read the book... It was kinda like "oh this character is dead.... so who's up for some tea?"

Rumors say the 3rd movie comes out in early 2004... until then, I can only wait

I think that the book has too much closure; there's no big cliffhanger at the end. If Voldemort had been killed, I would have felt fine with the series ending with this book.

OMG the thestrals sound so cute D

Well actually it did leave a lot of stuff open ended while also closing up most of the stuff that we have seen in the other books.

Well actually it was pretty dramatic........

I would have to say that the movies are the worst part of the Harry Potter series... They're just... not good.

Well obviously they aren't going to be as good as the book, but I still thought they were good. Just to hear Ron say "Bloody Hell" did it for me .

Ok, so he's not "that great of an actor" but he makes it good. Somehow that's confusing to me and should be to everyone.

The majority of movie viewers aren't teenage girls (or gay teenage guys) and won't like a Harry Potter because it was just a horribly done remake. They did make improvements in the 2nd one but still not too great.

The guys at WB need to take a good long look at Lord of the Rings and start from there

The second Lord of the Rings movie wasn't that great. Well, not if you'd read the book, at least.

No. I read the book (actually reading the series again for the 5th or 6th time right now) and realized that what I saw on screen was as good as anything I'd ever get. It ranked below the first one but as a standalone film, it'd be still awesome. People don't seem to like The Matrix Reloaded but it's because the first one set impossible standards. The second did a great job and it still provided a lot of fun and entertainment. I think that the problem with the Harry Potter movies is that WB is DELIBERATELY trying to cash in on the franchise whereas movies like LotR is the result of the hard work of a relatively unheard of director who just wanted to tell a classic story well and with conviction. If we could get someone like that to do Harry Potter, then perhaps we'd have something worth watching a second time around.

That's it, you're sleepin' on the couch tonight! But seriously, you are missin' out hun. If they weren't so great, there wouldn't be so many people who read them and love them. Not that my opinion is going to convince anyone who refuses to read the series. Oh well, your loss.

As if I wasn't dorky enough already, I learned a lot from reading this last book by writing down a few words I wasn't quite sure the meaning of and looking them up. So there I expanded my vocabulary from a book that some clueless people think are childish and pointless.

And as for Matt, if you really want to win my heart, you better start reading Harry Potter!!

Favorite one yet!

Well I'm not a patient guy so I'm going to skip reading every other post. I'll read em later. As of now here are my opinions on the book.

Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix was a master piece. Granted I know it could have been better at some points.
I found my self (a male just out of sophmore year and just turned 16) able to relate to Harry a lot. I thought Thestrals were very cool. (I'm about to start drawing one ^^) I'm quite sad that Sirius was killed off. But me and my friend Daniela theorize that he may not be done with. Who knows?
There were many hints, I felt, that Ron and Hermione liked each other. One being that Hermione kisses him on the cheek for good luck. Another in the three broomsticks. "..but I don't think you're ugly."said Harry. "Oh you're worse then Ron!" said Hermione. (did that from memory bare with me) I have a feeling that Ron's been hitting on her in private or somthing to that degree. Also Ron's constant jealousy at ever mention of Victor Krum.
Something I didn't like was Harry and Cho. I think Harry easily over reacted. And well he was pretty much a ditz around her. I can understand that he's never delt with anything like this but I think he could have handeled him self better. Maybe harry and Ginny will end up together? (Don't hurt me for last comment.) Hagrid's brother Grawp could have been left out all together but he wasn't that bad of an edition.
One of my favorite parts of the whole thing was when Mad Eye threatened Vernon. By the by I think Luna Lovegood is cool! She'll be important in the next book I foresee. I also think Neville should get to kill Bellatrix but we all know that wont happen. (*holds up a sign: Go Luna! Go Neville! Go Thestrals! Harry Learn how to handle a girl!*)

Well if you actually read that essay I pat you on the back.

Favorite parts: Mistletoe with Harry and Cho. Grawp saves Harry and Hermione from the Centaurs. When they leave for the Deparment of Mysteries on back of the Thestrals. Moody threatens Vernon. The Death Eater vs Order Battle. The battle between Dumbledore and Vodlemort and when Fred and George leave on their brooms.

Re: Favorite one yet!

So it's safe to give away parts of the story now?

Okay then...first thing: The thestrals. It's odd that he only started seeing them this year, as he had seen his parents killed when he was a kid. Obviously the death referred to is Cedric's, but Harry saw the exact same thing in both cases: Not the actual death, but a flash of green light and a dead body falling. Quite an inconsistency there.

The battle at the end: It seemed to drag on forever, and Rowling seemed to have a really tough time coming up with synonyms for "jet of light" and gave up, using the same phrase some 50 times.

There's more, I just can't think of it right now, and I don't want to read the book again.
