The pit size probably won't be very big, unless they set up a second room. There's a lot more teams coming this year than there were last year, and Lawrence North's gym isn't huge. I'd expect nothing bigger than what you would see at a FIRST regional, however.

There is a second room, an aux. gym. For you IRI vets who went last year, this room is on the other side of the foyer (the foyer led into the cafeteria).

Our tough decision is "who gets to have a pit next to the field, and who will be put into the aux. gym?"

I have my opinions on this, but I am not king. My guess is that the tradeoff will be this: teams in the aux. gym will have bigger pits. I cannot promise that at this point, and it is only a guess. The earliest we will know how this will all work out will be Thursday, 7/17.

Hmmm this presents an interesting situation... Closer to the field, smaller pit... farther away from the field, larger pit...

wow ryan, nice job picking that one up, wouldn't all the pits fit in the aux gym? you could put them all there and go with bleachers on both sides of the field.

It seems as though either way - having all of them in the gym or all of them in the aux gym - is going to be incredibly crowded.

I agree that it's going to have to be split... and I'm sure it will work out one way or another.

let the powers that be figure this one out,, it will be nice to beable to retreat to your pit and be away from the action, but it will also be nice to be working on your bot and watching the matches...

Would be nice if the rookie teams can stay closer to the field, as an reward for surviving the first year, and still make it to off season competition. Not a lot of rookie put that much effort in FIRST.

Several E-mails about various IRI details went out today and I guarentee that the Pit issue will be worked out and ready for IRI. Several excellent ideas were tossed out for what is going to be done so I wouldn't worry about this.

Muhahahha!

Every pit is going to only be 4 feet x 4 feet!

If you go more than your boundaries - you will be penalized by any means necessary to get you back in your cage!

Hahahahahaha!
