On a note: This thread is old.
On another note: He was a baby when his parents were killed. Isn't it true that your eye sight is not fully developed for a little while? And it's not like you could register death in your brain that young anyway. After all he didn't even know they were murdered until Hargrid told him in the first book.  I want my own Thestral.
