Setting up a webcam

I have a miniDV camcorder hooked up to a firewire port and I am told that there is a way that I can use that camera connection as a webcam, does anyone know of any programs that I can use to host and broadcast it to the net without a cheesy messenger program (Yahoo, MSN, etc)?

I know that you can use Yahoo messenger for broadcasting it, but then anyone who wants to see it has to have yahoo also.

I use Webcam 2000. You can download the full free version here: http://www.webcam2000.info/ .
It is not streaming, what it does is updates a picture ever x amount of seconds.

hit me up on aim: xpalendocious for more info and a demo of webcam 2k.
