SCRRF free jr college robotics classes
El Camino College is offering a Robotics Academy for high school students (grades 9-12) on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., beginning on October 18, 2003, and concluding on December 13, 2003. There will be no class on Saturday, November 29th because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Students completing the Robotics Academy with a passing grade will receive one semester unit of college credit for Manufacturing Engineering 1.
The purpose of the Robotics Academy is to introduce high school students to electronics and manufacturing technology through the construction, testing, and operation of functional robots. It is hoped that participation in this academy will encourage students to investigate further the career opportunities available to them in hi-tech fields. There will be no costs related to participation in the Robotics Academy. The entire cost of the Robotics Academy, including all course materials and lunches for Academy participants, will be covered by a grant provided to El Camino College by the Office of the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges. Students will be responsible for their own transportation.
