Manoel has it right. Because it is not just one year's effort, but sustained effort over a span of years that wins a Chairman's Award, rookies are excluded by definition. But that doesn't mean they can't be thinking about their "sophmore" or "junior" years even now.
They aren't excluded from the award forever, just their rookie year. Think of it like having to wait until you're old enough to get a driver's license. The only people who think that's unfair are the ones who are just a little bit too young. Besides, rookies have enough to worry about without it. |
