Rendering help
Hey everyone. I know a couple of you have been to my site in the past to discover that I used Tripod's web page builder.
Well, now, I'm programming in HTML myself, but I've come upon a serious problem... Internet Explorer hates my webpage! It just won't show up right, and I have no idea what's wrong. Check out the site: http://marlon_jbt.tripod.com Could anyone help me or tell me what's wrong? |

I don't have Mac, but let me guess. You have a <DOCTYPE> tag at the top of your script and the rest of the coding doesn't follow the XHTML standards. This could cause it to not show up to well in some browsers. I didn't get much time to look through the rest of it, but I always use xhtml. I always close tags. <input type="text" /> or <br /> I also use code to hide my javascript.
<script> <!-- // --> </script> These are just some ideas though. |

He didn't use an xhtml doctag so in that regard he is fine.

Possibly its an invalid doctype?
Perhaps you might want to read this? http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=RenderingMode Not having IE mac, I really can't help you though. |

Why do people with macs still use IE... it sucks enough on windows...
Just download a real browser and rest at ease. Only the old macs are really affected anyways... OSX and up uses whatchacallit... KHTML core... ummm. right, safari. |

Thanks
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look at them.
However... IE for Windows/Mac still has problems. What I don't understand is why...maybe the link will help me through it. I still can't code correctly, but I'm trying. I have no idea why some of you are not seeing the problem, but I will try to test different versions of the Microsoft Internet Explorer operating system...oops, I mean Windows OS. I know IE6/WinXP and IE5/Win2k don't render it correctly. By the way, I do NOT use IE. The only thing it is good for is downloading a better browser. I've been a Safari user since 7-04-2003 (Which is also the same day I got my Mac). While there are a couple things that I could use in Safari, like resumable downloads, I still enjoy using it. I don't have time to check it, too much to do. I'm trying to help get our team back together (only 3 of us left, argh!) and I've got some school projects to finish. Maybe this weekend? Thanks again. The two are very different browsers. IE mac is actually pretty good (if outdated). Also, please don't play games of "Mystery Bug". Tell us what isn't working, and we'll try to fix it! |
