lighting in 3DSMax

hey, i'm from cyberblue234. i've been working with this animation software for about 4 months and i feel i know the program well, i'm having trouble with lights though. i'm trying to get as realistic lights as possible in my scenes but i'm having a lot of trouble. what kind of lights do people suggest to use. is there anything i can do to the scenery to make the lighting work better? any help will be appreciated. thanks
evan
