How many motors are you using to drive?

I'm just curiose, now that most teams have finalized there drive systems, as to how many motors people are using to drive.

We are only using 2 drill motors to propel our robot. Who needs any more?
We tried out our drive system Sunday. Our 160 lb engineer got down on his knees behind the robot and was pulled around the floor. This is with the robot weighing only 57 lbs (trial weight). That should be enough traction

Testing 4 we've gotten the breaker to go, I'm wondering how many teams using 6 have had this problem, but still it sounds dangerous.

of the teams that are using an odd number I just have to ask how and why?

do you grab goals on the side and wanted extra power on that portion? did you count the gear shift motor as a drive motor? or was there another reason?

Three wheel drive. Notice how there were three drill motors? Some team might go as to using three wheels, each with drill motor driving them.

on our bot,

we have the chipewa and the drill on the same gear, it proves to be really convienent for good speed(drill) and the torque(chip.), we we driving the other night and drew 104amps for a bout a second and did not blow the breaker, i thought the breaker is supposed to blow at 60 amps? does this seem funny to you?

If you remember Woodie Talking in the kickoff, he said that they had run tests on the primary breaker being supplied to the teams.

The breaker is somewhat slow blow.

I believe one of the earlier team updates has to results for the test but basically this is what woodie said in the kickoff.

-the breaker will last 1 min 48 seconds at 100 amps

-the breaker will last 8 seconds at 200 amps.

The smaller fuses (for each motor) are fast blow on the other hand.

If you draw over their limit for about 1-2 seconds they will blow, but will reset within the span of a match.

However you should design your robot such that none of your fuses blow, if you lose power even to a small fuse in the match, you are effectively vulnerable for about 30 seconds as we found out through a bad crimp in the 2000 competition.

We are using three drills with custom motor mounts, (thank you again technokats) Also a globe with custom motor mount and custom tourque motor apparatus.

BTW who's mean idea at first was it to only include 3 drill motors??? oh well!

We are using two drill motors and their transmissions, mounted in custom mounts. However we find that starting off, our robot jerks rather than accelerating smoothly, and wonder if that phenomenon is related to the 10% cut off on the Victor 883s. Does anyone have any thoughts/comments on this?
