Segway at Brookstone

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet, but you can now buy a Segway in Brookstone stores, even take one for a test ride at several stores (18+)

Yeah, my dad was showing me one in the Brookstone catalog he had at home. I was surprised to find them in there. Very cool, though.

We have a Brookstone right across from the Apple Store at the new mall. That's heaven. Get tired of Apple? You can look at the Segway! Too bad you can't demo it at our location...

Aww..thats too bad. I've three stores with it to demo within 30 minutes of my house, and another 45 minutes away.

Though cool, it makes sense. Instead of doing business the best way he knew how (licensing), he decided to sell them commerically. Which is valiant, and one heck of a learning experience, but because of his pricing structure, loses money in the end.

I still stick by the theory that he was rushed to put them out...and because of that, is in the situation he is in today (ie. something that he wanted to "revolutionize the world" being sold at a high-end gadget store).

I'll be interested to see how many sales actually come from this new avenue.
