ChoicePoint screening

When I found out that ChoicePoint was going to process the volunteer screening for FIRST, I did some research on the company. I found some surprising information; I wonder if it's possible that this information is true. Here are a few examples of what I found:

ChoicePoint purchased illegal information about citizens of Latin America, especially Mexico.

ChoicePoint had a security breach in their computer network; it was possible to access their internal data without a password.
