openFIRST Release -- 'Twas the Release Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The modules were hung in the repository with care,
In hopes that a release technician soon would be there;

The web-masters were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of feature-enhancements danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the news updates there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to Chief Delphi I browsed like a flash,
Typing the full web address, including the slash.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen-snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Tim with four proud developers near.

With a tall young driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Tim the fantastic.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Greg! now, Dave! now Stephanie and Vixen?
There are still bugs, and you'd better get fix'in!
From the header of the files! To the footer and all,
There must be no more bugs, no more bugs left in this install."

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they met with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the forum-top the coursers they flew
With the download list full of modules, and a release technician too.

And then in a twinkling, I read the modules are no longer aloof
But there was true effort put behind each little proof.
As I lifted up my hand, and was turning around,
Over the Internet wire new messages came with a bound.

He was dressed all in black, from his head to his foot,
His clothes as though they were tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of modules he flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes – how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His mouth was drawn up much like a bow,
And the skin on his face was as white as the snow;

His glasses they covered his increasingly droopy eyes,
And the shell it encircled his thoughts like a wreath;
He typed up a storm and wrote from his home,
Knowing the release he had packaged would be quite welcome.

Re: openFIRST Release -- 'Twas the Release Before Christmas

Haha, yeh Tim has talent for writing. I thought it was real funny when he showed it to me :-p

If you want to download the new complete openFIRST system you have 3 options. Either download directly from the nightly build system:

http://openfirst.sourceforge.net/nightly/ -> download the full system for all the included modules, or individual modules.

or you can download from our projects system (I prefer nightlies though):

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=78233

or you can use automated software that automatically downloads and arranges the files for you.

For Linux people - http://www.openfirst.org/installer/installer.sh (a shell script)

For Windows people - there is an exe installer available on the projects systm.

You may also read the original copy of Tim's work here: http://www.openfirst.org/night-before/

Seasons greetings, I have to open my presents now :-) yay
