Question Finding an Animation Team Leader

I'm the animation "coach" from Team 88 TJ². I say "coach" because i'm a sophmore in college, and not really official, but i'm the most knowlagable person on the team, so I do what I can to help. I love coaching (and animation), but I can't really devote enough time (long distance commute) to be effective over the long term. I also feel frustrated because i've learned most of what i know on my own, but i would love to meet someone who could teach me and the team more than i can about both modeling and the art and design of an animation. We had an excellent coach for 2 years, but he had to leave, and I stepped in. Well, enough with the backstory. :-)
My question is, where do most teams find animation coaches? Our sponser is J&J, and we have asked around for people to help, but there either doesn't seem to be any interest or anyone knowlegable in 3DS Max. Are some teams lucky enough to find people who work in animation for a living, and bring them in? Or do they find people like our previous coach that are unrelated engineers, but happen to be handy with computers and learn the software? Are we not trying hard enough, or are we just looking in the wrong places? Any information or advice in finding a permanant coach would be appreciated.
