Hanging yourself or Handling Big Ball?

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to get public opinion the subject our team is dealing with, and many of you too, no doubt. There may come a time in your design when you have to compromise between being able to handle big ball or handing. I just wanted to see which one you would prefer to do and why? Now I know some of you guys can do both with one mechanism, but I just want you to vote keeping in mind that you can only do one or the other.

There is a thread with the exact same topic, except there is no poll. I will leave this open for the poll, but please only post in the link above.

This isn't necisarily my teams opinion but my opinion. If your team has a good enough human player, and a bot that can feed enough balls to them them, the big ball looks more promising due to it scoring you more points, also, your robot will not have to deal with the stairs or ledge, and won't have to compete with other bots vying for position. If you only pick one, I say the big ball

Poor Jim -> Confesses that he's not well hung.

Better close thread; this could get ugly

Re: Hanging yourself or Handling Big Ball?

I suppose I'd rather handle the big ball than hang myself.

Perhaps the title of this thread should be "Poll: Having a robot that hangs or handles the big ball"?

Re: Hanging yourself or Handling Big Ball?

Our robot manipulated the 2X ball but we couldn't cap the big goal. we could un cap it be not tall enough to reach to cap it. But hanging had more of an advantage but we didn't realize it untill VCU. There is and always will be "next year"

Re: Hanging yourself or Handling Big Ball?

Our robot does neither. We catch the small balls and are able to pick them up as well. We than rely on a robot to cap and hang for us while we play defence. If I had to choose an aliance partner who could only either cap or hang, I would choose capping, because it would give us more points. So I would say a good capper is better than a good hanger.

Our robot was able to do both....at the same time. We were also pretty good at doing them too.
