IR Sensor & Source

Two questions about the IR Source & Sensor:

1. How is the IR Source controlled via the new controller?

2. If the source is to mounted to provide reflectance on the tape, how does the quad LED arrangement work? Is the alignment of the source in-line with the tape or perpendicular? Any FIRST documents on this?

Thanks in Advance

The IR source (beacon) is NOT mounted on the robot. It is only located on the playing field. FIRST gave us the components to build the beacons so we can test our IR receivers.
