Question 30 Second Penalty

If you don't get the ball off the ball tee in the first 15 seconds, is your robot's power disabled for the 30 second penalty or will the balls just not drop until 45 seconds into the game? We haven't been able to find any other information on this topic yet...If anyone knows anything about this please reply.

No the robot is not disabled, just the balls do not drop until 45 sec into the game (30 seconds into driver control)

[EDIT] ONsecond thought, the last time i checked on this was kickoff. It may have changed since then.[/EDIT]

First said at kickoff that the balls [if during auton you dont remove your tee'd ball,] will not drop until the 45 sec mark of the match. You will not be disabled or DQ'ed by not getting your ball off a tee in auton mode.

Re: 30 Second Penalty

dont think of it as a penalty - you might not want the balls to drop right away - you might want to get the 2X ball off your goal and drag it under the hopper

or you might have a bot designed to catch all the balls as they fall, which would give you time to park it in just the right spot before they are released.

there is also the potential for defensive strateejury here- if you can stop your opponent from getting to their release ball in 15 seconds, you have an advantage over them

its not a penalty, its how the game is played.

Re: 30 Second Penalty

We were told that our robot would be disabled if the ball was not removed from the tee within the first 15 seconds. Since the robot will not be disabled we realize this would be a good strategy to intentionally not knock the ball off...

Just as a clarification.

If a robot knocks the ball off the tee within the Autonomous mode:
-Balls will drop onto playing field.

If ball is not removed from tee within Autonomous mode:
-Balls will drop with 1:15 left in game (45 seconds in)

There is no other impact during game play of moving the balls on the tee. They do have a higher value, but otherwise, the mechanisms serve no purpose after Autonomous mode.
