Maximum amount of stored energy?

I was wondering what the limit to the amount of potential energy at the start of a match was limited to. Last years documents say it was 20 ftlbs, or 27.116 joules, but is this the same for this year?

It was not found in the robot manual, nor in a update or the question and awnser section at usfirst.org

any help will be appreciated.

Re: Maximum amount of stored energy?

I do not believe that there is a limit this year. The rules state that you can store energy as deformation of a robot part (as in a spring). that rule from last year was meant as a safety guard, to prevent pre-compressed springs from randomly going off and decapitating someone. As long as your device is safe, I don't think you'll run into any trouble.
