Your link does not work. This thread would be most appropriate in the "Robot Showcase" forum.

Re: update on our robot

alright, this is better, and for that post on treads, I think this design ( VERY basic, will be stepped up ) that even if you lose a tread, you still got drive wheels ( connected by chain? ) hm

Re: update on our robot

If you are going to have the wheels connected by chain anyway, I would suspect that you don't really need the belt.

As long as your wheels were in the right places it would work the same and you wouldn't need to worry about the belt falling off or using tensioners. Also it would turn better.

Re: update on our robot

that top center wheel will actually be an adjustable tensioner, and treads offer better traction, with the wheels also powered it works for the better in gripping and moving, also the adjustable tensioner will be the drive motor, and if you ask how will that work, our little secret

Re: update on our robot

If I had to guess, Id say that youre going to mount the motor using vertical slots, so that you can slide it up or down to tension the chain properly.

yeah, I think thats the plan.... anyone know of any suppliers of treads for robotics? instead of using cog belts?

Re: update on our robot

www.brecoflex.com<------Takes forever for them to arrive

http://www.fnsheppard.com/ <----- Team 45 used this supplier and I think they liked them more than Brecoflex.

Good luck
