Go to Post Now, our team did meet, but there wasn't much inspiring going on. Unless you call pegging me with more darn poof balls exciting. - Paul Copioli [more]

My friend and teammate Glasses has made a viewer for ms3d (milkshape?) files. It has been very useful for showing the playing field on computers without 3DS. There's a discussion on it here. Check it out and let him know what you think.

I don't suppose it runs on linux? If not, won't really help me much... besides, I'm not interested in viewing it, I want to use the darn thing.

I suppose I'll just have to make my own. Thanks anyways

Yes, I don't mind at all, so long as you give credit to my team's animators. Have fun with it.

You aren't really supposed to be using it... But that's me beating a dead horse.

Re: .max 2004 FRC field, download and use!

Our team used it as a base for the field scene, mostly as a modeling aid, since a lot of parts had to be redone (this is a very good field from blueprints & manufacturing point of view, but has some flaws that make it hard to use for animation - like excess geometry, and sharp edges). It is much easier to make objects when you have an easy way to visualize all the dimensions - it is like a 3d blueprint.

Yes, we left some of the original geometry intact, but everything was remapped and scene completely re-lit.
