Chairman's Award - document past year or beyond?

I'm mentoring our team's Chairman's Award Committee this year for the first time. It seems as though FIRST wants to see what the teams have done on a year-round basis to support the ideals of FIRST. But in the submission, do you document only what the team has done in the past year alone, or show the progression of the team since its inception?

There are multiple ways to approach this. We have always done our best to highlight the current year, but "ongoing" efforts year after year also get included. In addition, it takes a long time to build a team and, thus, growth over time is important. Good luck!

yes i would say that you need to include some of your past years accomplishments in your submission.

Re: Chairman's Award - document past year or beyond?

We focus on the past year to show what the current team is doing, but we also include on-going projects and a mention of previous activity that may not be currently active.

FIRST is looking for a long term committment and not a flurry of activity just to make a nice submission.

It has to be in Word format this year... check the 2004 manual.

Re: Chairman's Award - document past year or beyond?

I have posted a question to the FIRST Q&A section regarding what verison of Word we must use... I'd hate to have our team send in their submission in the latest version, only to discover the judges couldn't read it!

The manual just indicates it needs to be submitted as a Microsoft Word document.
