My advidor was saying today that there is a way of making the chalupa motors brake. I have found no reference to this anywhere. Is this possible and if so how?

The brake we were going to use was a electronic one using the force to stop the turn
harder you pull harder it wants to stop. |

You can use the speed controller...
You can set the speed controller to brake mode. This will stop the motor from coasting. You should remember that this will disperse alot of energy through the mtor itself in the form of heat, which can cause damage (especially if the motor is on your drivetrain)

Just move the small jumper over on the speed controller. Real quick easy change. I always try our different motors out using both settings, finding out which one I like best. btw, they aren't perfect. The only way to truely prevent backdrive is to use a potentiometer or other sensor and do it in the code.

Brake
just a suggestion but I would use a brake other then electronic to hold the bot down so that you don't stall motors and start tripping brakes. I designed a brake for our bot using other forces motors( not electronic motors) it works VERY well and I challenge anyone to move our robot when I stop it. Just a suggestion but a hint is you have the cyliners and air compressor that draws minimal amps and dosen't stall!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The brake took the last 7 hours of Monday night to design and build into the bot but if you plan ahead you should be able to add one at regionals before you compete with little trouble.
