St Louis Regional Status

Hi all,
This will be our 3rd year at St. Louis, we just keep coming back for more. It's a great place to compete and the people are real nice. It's nice to see some more WI teams coming down to play around. Best of luck to all, see you there!

My wife researched other hotels in the area. We ultimately landed on the Towne Place Suites, which are about 1 mile from the competition venue and reasonably priced.....

We settled on the St. Charles Hotel for $55 a night. Sounds like a good place, it used to be a Best Western. Is everyone from outside STL busing there?

We drive down in a few vans. Have to save money where ever we can.

Yea I was not too happy with the Hotels that were provided this year at St Louis. We are also going to South Carolina and there we only have 1 choice. Anyway we choose to stay at the hotel we stayed at last year the Comfort Suites. It was one of if not the closest hotel that I remember and the rooms were first rate. The Suites part of thier name really was true and they had a nice breakfast every morning with cereal and other fruits. I think you could even make your own waffles but I am not 100% on that. The prices this year are about the same as I paid last year but I had to be sure and ask for that pricing. The website was about 20 or more dollars higher a night. I suggest if you are finding your own hotel then try and shopp the hotels and let them know what you could be paying at the other hotel and maybe they will come down in price per night.

I remember the competition at St. Louis last year as being very good. The matches that I saw were definitely action-packed. However, as I recall, the staff at the venue were real rule nazis and wouldn't even let you eat your own food in the parking lot (unless you were inside of a vehicle). I think that this is one of the main reasons that my team decided not to return to St. Louis a second year...we are not prone to enjoy rule-nazis. Rules are good, and shoudl be obeyed, but rediculous rules are just that....rediculous.

this will be 1024 second year in STL and my second year driving

I thought we could get a jump and start talking about the St Louis regional coming this Wed. After seeing the great games being played at the BAE and the VCU regionals this is going to be a great game. Also does anyone know if the St Louis regional will on a webcast like the BAE and the VCU.

The St. Louis regional will not be on webcast unfortinutely, mainly for cost reasons ($20,000).

I think seeing the Portland and VCU regionals will give other teams a huge head start, and we will all see the matches be much more competitive like the elim matches.

Oh yeah, Team #93 will be attending for the first time and will be staying at the St. Charles hotel (I think).

Team 343 from Oconee County South Carolina will be there! I'm living in SC now but for most of my life I lived in WI. It will be nice to hear some good ole Wisconsin accent for a change. (Getting a little tired of the Southern accent, maybe even picking it up a little.) Good luck to everyone there! I am looking forward to a great regional.

Correction to my post from before.

Our team will be staying at the 4 point sharaton hotel.

Looks like I'll get to go help my team scout at STL on Friday and Saturday. One of the kids on our team has grandparents on the Illinois side and we will stay there and make the 20 to 30 minute drive to the competition on Friday and Saturday. I can't wait. Look like there will be some good teams.
