Gear Box
Hello. I am working on the gear box for our robot in Inventor 7, and I am having issues with "degrees of freedom" on pretty much everything. I have gears going multiple directions on the same shaft and a bunch of other problems. If someone could be so kind as to tell me how to resolve this problem, that would be much appreciated.
Also, is there an easy way to properly mesh gears in Inventor? Thank you for the help. Bryan |

Re: Gear Box
Well, I have never used 7 but in five I place a constraint to mate the gear axis with the shaft axis only. Then I manually rotate the gear to mesh it. Then I place a rotational constraint with the gear ratio. Sometimes you will have to put in a negative value to get it to go the right way. And the gears will stay meshed from that day on. Works pretty well for me.
Don't forget a placement (mate) constraint to locate your gears on the shaft. Last edited by sanddrag : 30-01-2004 at 16:38. |
