An Autonomous Mode Haiku

Okay, well this is to show people that I do other things besides program -- for example, I write about programming. Anyway, this is a short little haiku I came up with last night, after becoming frustrated with the IR sensors for a variety of reasons ... inspired by DeCSS Haiku (read at your own risk ) I figured if anyone, the kind folk at CD should appreciate this ..

Autonomous Mode,
Again thou dost trouble me--
Unconquerable

Thou art, ever still!
Forever still? Should I move?
Beacon be my guide,

Steer me in my course
And lead me to thy bounty,
Lest I be stuck--dead.

But I am troubled
How to move, lacking input
Of human being?

Can a machine live?
Can it feel or touch or see?
Can a machine think?

How then to some point,
In delicate dance divine,
Shouldst it move freely?

Hark! Muse, voice on high,
Dost thou answer me, kind friend?
Out now! Speak quickly,

For the build season
Winds down, and time is lacking:
To guide the robot

Machine need not think
Nor master intelligence--
But yet must it see.

But machines may see
What humans may not, so now
Distress no longer!

Infrared beacons
Mark path robot must follow.
And fear thee not the

Implementation,
For algorithms abound,
And default code too.

I was toying with the idea of releasing some of our top secret algorithms inside the haiku ... but I ran out of paper Who knows, I may find time to update this.
