Team party limits at Buckeye regional

I got an e-mail from FIRST informing me that there is a 25 person limit at the team party at the Buckeye Regional.

The party is held at the Rock & Roll Hall if fame. A very cool place.

However, if your team is larger you will have to trade for extra wrist bands. This is because the place has a size limit.

I hope coaches just don't send students without chaperones.

The party will be great!

Buckeye Team Party

I have 26 students, and 14 mentors/chaperones. I would like to find a team that is not using all 25 passes. I am not willing to choose the part of my team that cannot go to the team party. Isn't it logical that the team party venue should be able to host all participants? I know that there are several teams larger than us, too. I guess we will have to find something else to do in downtown Cleveland on Friday evening if they can't accomodate our whole team. Any suggestions? The concept of the R&R Hall of Fame seemed so awesome, too. How sad...

i went to the R&R Hall of fame a few years ago on a camp trip. i didn't think it was all it was cracked up to be, but of course back then i wasn't really into music as much as i am now. it was a pretty big place too, so i'm not really sure why they're limiting it to only 25 people per team. oh well, i would try to help, but i'm out on "the island" (LI), so i can't do much. sorry, and hope you guys can find someway around this.

A 25 person entry limit is disappointing to hear. I always have a blast with the kids at the team partys. Our team will most likely not be attending since we have 12 adults and 19 students. I guess we'll have to find somewhere else to play.

What does the $5000 entry fee go to? I thought the party was included in this price no matter what size your team is. Correct me if I'm wrong.
IMHO I think that if your team isn't allowed to go ot the party (do to size of team) than someone should give some of the entry fee back.

While I'm sure a small part of your entry fee goes toward the team party, I have a feeling the majority of it goes toward other aspects of the event(venue, lighting, sound, video) as well as your kit(the extra $1000 for your first event is actually for your control system, hence why all other events are $4000) and FIRST's operating expenses throughout the year. While it's unfortunate that, in this case, not everyone is allowed to go to the team party due to space constraints, at least it's not as bad as some regionals I've heard about in past years, where there was not enough room in the venue for the EVENT to house everyone, and they had to set up an "auxiliary viewing area" for those who could not fit into the main arena. Also, keep in mind the Disney event, where the cost of the party is subsidized by the FIRST/Disney hotel packages(hence the "event fee" for those booking outside of the package) rather than the registration fee.

The limits they set really stink. The reason being is team parties should include the entire TEAM.

Oh well...maybe I'm just being naive in thinking that. We have 26 students as said before and 14 mentors as well. We can't not send 1 student and no mentors....even though it could be fun!!

At the same time though...it really makes us look down on the competition because they should have planned for this from the beginning.

Oh well...I'm sure we will find something else to do!

I know it must suck but....

Be greatful if you have a regional......

I remember reading last year in the after season FIRST discussion about UTC New England Regional that the team party was a bad idea..

I still don't know if they will have one this year because of that comment but I'm hoping they do!

I wore painted on glasses at the party last year a joke because I forgot my safety glasses when we went up to compete in a match that day. That was the same day I got Dean's autograph - while I had the "glasses" on.
Later that night my whole face became blue - sort of!

Thanks for shedding some light....I really didn't think it was that bad but we will find something to do and if your team doesn't have a regional your team should too!
