I agree, this is probably going to start some trouble in the next day or two...we'll let it go and see where this heads..but the minute it turns to the wrong direction, its gonna get closed.

He's just curious about team's manufacturing capabilities... no harm, no foul.

Unless this turns into a haves vs. have nots debate... I see no problem.

1047 has a CNC mill and digital lathe.

It's pretty super cool

but no one knows how to use it. (long story it was donated) hopefully we don't break it.

Re: pic: machines

Team 854 has two lathes and a mill. We also have a CNC lathe and mill, but the lathe needs a new controller, and we are just beginning to use them. The problem is, they are running very old software, and it is reletively difficult to use- machine codes and such. We also have a radial drilling machine, which is basically a glorified drill press with auto-feed, MIG/Aluminum welder, and many wood working tools. Occasionally, we sneak next door to the Auto tech room to use their goodies: Metal bandsaw, tubing bender, shear, sheet bender, and various other tools.

We are very fortunate that we are one of the few schools in Toronto (Canada) that still has access to decent tech-ed facilities, so if there are any schools in T.O who need help with machine work, let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Team 1093 has a mill, lathe, drill press, table saw, and band saw. Due to lack of permanent space however, we have not been able to set the mill or lathe up for the second year now. Grrrrrr...

Re: pic: machines

I think the real question in some cases is; how many of each of these does your team have!

And of those numbers, how many were donated because of our wonderful sponsors?

234 has a mill and a lathe we go from the other school in the township when they had to shut down the township tech department. I smell a CNC in the future too.

Re: pic: machines

341 formed a partnership with the local tech center last year.. it's been quite a boon, as we have around 10 manual lathes, 6 manual mills, and a digital lathe.. Our two CNC machines were taken out in september for some reason, and the new ones haven't arrived, so everything this year has been man-made..

Re: pic: machines

We work in a tech room and wood shop. Meaning we have a mill, 2 lathes, a currently not working CNC, a band saw, other smaller metal-working machines/tools, and plenty of woodworking tools and machines). Luckily, our sponsor will machine some of the things we can't, such as wire-edm gears.

Re: pic: machines

Our team is based at the local high school and we get to use the machines in the woodshop and metalshop. The woodshop is complete with everything and the metalshop is going through a slow metamorphisis with a new teacher in there the past two years. The previous teacher had let alot of the stuff go to waste. The old machinery is getting replaced by more modern machinery. We currently have three running Bridgeport millers all donated (I got one donated by the company I work for), 5 lathes that have seen better days (although still running and usable for now) and hopefully will get replaced soon depending on donations and school budget. Verticle and horizontal bandsaws, acetalene, MIG, and arc welders. There are also numerous other stuff including benders, breaks, grinders, compressor, ect. The only machine currently not running and usable is a small 30+ year old surface grinder, another machine that it's moment in the sun has long passed. Some of our sponsors also help with some of our work especially this year with school cancellations.
