Maths Challange
This is quite a clever one.
All you have to do is to continue this sequence: 1 11 21 1211 111221 312211 13112221 1113213211 31131211131221 13211311123113112211 |

Re: Maths Challange
argh. I've seen this before, but don't recall the answer as it's 7am. I will note that your signature is out of date however, since there's an ecuadorian team now.

Quote:
11 = two ones 21 = one two, one one 1211 = one one, one two, two ones 111221 = three ones, two twos, one one 312211 = one three, one one, two twos, two ones 13112221 = one one, one three, two ones, three twos, one one 1113213211 = three ones, one three, one two, one one, one three, one two, two ones 31131211131221 = one three, two ones, one three, one one, one two, three ones, one three, one one, two twos, one one 13211311123113112211 = one one, one three, one two, two ones, one three, three ones, one two, one three, two ones, one three, two ones, two twos, two ones So the next item in sequence is: 11131221133112132113212221 |

Re: Maths Challange
That is the pattern, each line describes the line above, so in the first line there is one 1 - 11 which is the second line!
-------- Each line is a description of ther line above. 1 one (0) 11 one (1) 21 two (1's) 1211 one (2) one (1) 111221 one (1) one (2) two (1's) 312211 three (1's) two (2's) one (1) |

Re: Maths Challange
Ken, each term is describes in words the term before it. It's a kind of verbal Fibonacci sequence.
