Re: serial

Radio Shack, or basically any electronic/computer supply store should have one.

We made some ourselves. They're quite easy to make. You can get the connectors at RadioShack - then just wire the pins.

We actually made a bunch of short (~4 inch) serial cables for all of our robot controller and driver interface connectors. In the past, we've had problems with the constant plugging/unplugging of cables causing the connectors on the IFI controllers to go bad. To solve this, we made a bunch of "pigtail" cables so we leave the pigtail in the IFI connector at all times and then we plug into the pigtail. This eliminates stressing of the IFI connector. We're hoping that this will eliminate our problems.

We were thinking of doing that also except that the "pigtails" will run all the way to the outside of the bot so that we cause use the tether and program ports without dissasembly.
