You can use zip ties to keep the shifter in place. Make sure you get the shifter push all the way in the direction you want and secure a zip tie on the back of the shifter. Tight but not overtightened. That how are team solves this problem. As for if the transmission is coming apart, get better motor mounts. We got new motor mounts, non-kit, post season after having trouble later with the motor and transmission becoming un-meshed. Disadvantage is that it would cost you weight. We didn't have real motor mount problems til post-season.
