New Website!

Cinco Ranch Robotics has debuted its new website (still being updated though). Please take the time to review the site---give us feedback in the contact section (or in this forum) and suggest links (in the links section, duh ). The address is http://www.cincorobotics.com
Also, the site is a very complex flash site, so we recommend a pentium 3 500 MHz + system.

Well, all that flash is impressive, but for me at least it is too too much. I can't navagate the site at all. I am on a PII 400 and it's really really choppy.

The flash is nice so the best advice I can give is to create a "Flash" and a "Non-Flash" version. Please keep in mind people who aren't on Athlon MP 1.2 Ghz x2 4GB DDR Windows XP boxen... some of us use P1 233 with 64 MB RAM and Linux.

Thanks for the tip :)

Yep, we're aware of the issue with the site on slow[er] computers, and we're working on a non-flash site that'll be uploaded next week (hopefully). In fact, when we were testing the interface, it literally killed my friend's PII 266...may that thing rest in peace.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should...

I went ahead and clicked on the IE 5.5 or above only with IE 5. bleh, flickering, and other nonsense, couldn't even get to see any pics of your 'bot.

I can only imagine what it'd look like with one of the 'alternative browsers'. Try to get a non-flashed site up, and it would be great. I'll try the site out with IE 5.5 when I get home (I'm at work now in the computer labs)

Forget the fancy stuff...

<rant>
If I can't view the the page on my old 233 with Netscape 4, or on my Solaris box at work (note, no Flash for Solaris) then I have no choice but to give it the lowest rating. Non-backwards compatable sites are evil. For those of you who are curious, I've also ranted to our webmaster about the IE 5 requirements for parts of our site.

Fancy flash & excellent graphics are not what make a site good, it's the content that people keep coming back for.
</rant>

I viewed the page on my new computer and it looks good. Let people view the page without Flash and you'll have an excellent site.

Mike

low-bandwidth version of site uploaded

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that a version of the website that's geared toward slower connections and slower computer systems has been uploaded and is awaiting your visit So for all of you who couldn't view it before because it was running far too slow, give it another try if you like

You still have a major problem with your site at least as far as I can get. On the main page whenever I mouse-over the low or high bandwidth button I get two IE script errors. I am running IE 5.5. It is on a PII 300 but come-on. Give us low power guys something to go with.

hmm

I don't know what to tell ya, because I use IE 5.5 as well, and it seems to work fine here...no errors, and the mouseovers work fine. Anyone else get a similar problem when using IE 5.5? And what exactly does the script error say?

It runs jsut fine on my computer, but then again I have a fairly high power machine on a cable modem.
One thing I found anoying was that when I opened one of the new menu items, it poped under the ones already up.

It runs just fine on a:
Athlon XP 1700+
512 DDR
geforce 2 mx 400
IE 5.5
Win2K
cable modem

Oh, and the music is nice and my Logitch Z-560s THX speakers made the bass nice and punchy.

And tho those with the P II's, I know how you feel. I had a K6-2 300 until a month ago.
