I love that robot because it is beautifully simplisitc

as far as the K.I.S.S. rules go that is a work of art, I believe you will be a good competitor just because you'll always be doing just that competing.. and rarely breaking

what's the size of that nu-matic? i've heard of a team that is using a 2" OD 24" stroke + 10" stroke with 2" OD for some kind of telescoping function...just wondering. also...is it gonna hang or just pick up big balls?

I would hardly say that treads follow the KISS principle. If you do em' right though, they sure can be good

I don't know who this is.. but in general.. it's good to be REALLY careful about using those 24" pneumatics. The short story is that those guys will definitely drain the tanks in one shot, so you nee to make sure that you can work with a low PSI range.

I really fear for robots that plan on using these 24" pneumatics to pull themselves up on the bar... it'll be a close call if you'll have enough force to pull yourself up if you're using a double action solenoid on it- you'll almost completely drain both full tanks after you extend it, and you'll need to wait until both tanks are at 80 PSI before you can pull yourself up... regulation will be key.

Just a random thought / concern. I hope it helps somebody.

Oh, and the robot looks slick... but where are all the wires?

Good luck everyone,

Matt

Thumbs up Re: pic: Brazilian Buddy V teaser!

Hi guys, I don't know were did get this ideia from, but sure we're not using a 24'' cylinder. It's just a simple elevator, powered by one eletric motor. Maybe this picture's angle of view is not the best, but I wish much more than good luck to someone who has balls enough to get into the field with this kind of cylinder. Anyway, we apreciate your coments, and hope that the robot keep looking so clean after we wired it and put all the control and protection stuff over it.

Many thanks,

Tomás

That angle is a bit deceiving, indeed. I think they were talking about the shiny aluminum tubing from the telescoping arm. It does look like a cylinder! Anyway, guys, this is just the base, a lot of subsystems are still missing... But thank you very much for the compliments, and we already posted another teaser!!
