I just took a look in my ARRL repeater manual and found a callsign that belongs to disney with a open repeater, not sure where it is located in disney but here is the info:
Orlando, output- 147.300 mhz, input- 147.900 mhz, call WA4ABQ, made by WDWARC (that name seems to be walt disney world amature radio club), and its listed as "open" I will review the frequencies that are in use by park operations and pick a open one for us to use as a simplex meeting place if we cant use the repeater. I will also set up a set of rules to keep things orderly and together. But, we still have some time ahead of us ![]() |

Wow! I am impressed that our amateur radio family is so large. I am further encouraged that there are hams involved with such a great project.
If we are ever lucky enough to host a regional competition, I hope that our Keowee-Toxaway ARC will have a special event station. That would spread the word of FIRST worldwide. I look forward to working our FIRST Hams at Nationals. KS4YX - Gil - Team 343 - Metal In Motion |

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of more technically-oriented hams would be interested in helping out local teams.

Event call sign?
Is it too late to get a special event call sign at the Nats? You could set up a booth and make up special QSL cards. This would be great publicity for both FIRST and the ham community.
Alas, I won't be at the nats. But I'd love to chinwag with anyone at San Jose or Houston. I also have one student ham. Eric Reed KR6BU |

Do you know the form number to get a event call sign.
Does anyone want to set up a booth or know where to get donated cards? |

I am going to reserve a 1x1 callsign for the nats but I need some help with the name so you can post some ideas and if I get enough I will put up a poll. Here is the infor from Arrl:
The format of each 1x1 call sign consists of a single letter K, N or W prefix followed by a single numeral, 0 through 9, followed by any single letter except the letter X, which is not available to amateur stations. ____ Also does anyone want to set up a booth with a portable/mobile radio as a base station and possibally (if anyone knows how) set up a repeater of our own. Im getting ARRL to donate stuff for us to handout (and some stuff for us ) |

I think after we get the 1x1 we can substitute with one we can make up such as FIRST1 or 1ST
not sure, tell me what you think they mean: here Its at the bottom here are calls that are allready reserved and the dates Last edited by RebAl : 28-02-2002 at 15:25. |

Ok, I didn't realize that. It isn't too often that you apply for a special event callsign
While it might be nice to have a special callsign, I don't think it is too crucial to the operation of a good FIRST net. |
